Born a U.S. Air Force brat in the Philippines, Charlene Foster moved to The Last Frontier at age 10 where she later attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage for Fine Arts. When smalltown ideals clashed with her rebellious heart, she set off to the east coast where she was introduced to the world of glassblowing in 1999 through Avon Place Glass in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Foster continued with intensive studies and attended Penland School of Arts and Crafts, Pilchuck Glass School, and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Featured in a number of art-related magazines, galleries and museums nationwide, Charlene’s glass chains have also been auctioned at the Liberty Museum, The UrbanGlass Blower’s Ball, Wheaton Arts and recently with The Michigan Glass Project. Now based in Philadelphia, Foster focuses on creating collaborative glass pieces and custom jewelry for a range of high-end customers.
